Requirements for Membership
Membership in NAPM-WM shall be open to the following:
A person who is involved in the purchasing or materials process, including without limitation, purchasing, purchasing research, value analysis, inventory control, materials management, supply chain management, or any other activity or function which is related to the purchasing or materials process. A retired professional is also eligible for membership.
An editor, secretary, or business manager employed by an Affiliated Association.
A person with a full-time appointment as a teacher, research specialist, department head, director or dean of a college, university or other academic institution whose academic responsibility includes purchasing management or materials management or other business relation fields or subjects. You may qualify for dues free status.
A regular member whose dues are currently paid on a continuous basis who is unemployed shall continue to be eligible for membership.
A regular member whose dues are currently paid on a continuous basis who retires shall continue to be eligible for membership.
An undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full time in an accredited community college or four-year college or university. You may qualify for dues free status if you meet the requirements and can provide the requested documentation.
A person who is engaged in the business of providing consulting services primarily in the filed of purchasing management and materials management on condition that such person dos not solicit members of an affiliated association for consulting engagements.
In principle and in practice, the National Association of Purchasing Management values and seeks a diverse membership. Individual viewpoints and contributions are pursued and respected. There are not barriers to full participation in NAPM on the basis of ethnic background, gender, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. For NAPM, diversity is valuing and respecting individual strengths, viewpoints and contributions. Diversity is viewed as a positive assed in NAPM's growth and success. The association will value and embrace diversity in the membership. It is the policy of NAPM-WM not to be affiliated with an association which fails to adhere to the provisions of this statement policy.
Categories of Membership
Regular Membership: when an individual chooses to join an Affiliated Association and National. Each Affiliated Association will set the annual dues for its local membership, which will include National dues. Any individual that chooses this type of membership will receive discounts on both National and Affiliate levels.
Associate Membership: when an individual chooses to join an Affiliated Association only. Each Affiliate Association will set the annual dues for its local membership which will not include and National dues. Any individual that chooses this type of membership will receive the local Affiliate benefits such as reduced costs for attending locally sponsored seminars, monthly educational meetings, and any other locally sponsored events for the local membership.
Student, Faculty, Unemployed and Retired Purchasing Professional - this category is a free temporary membership offered at the National level and all of the benefits of a local associate member and a regular member are offered to the individual. The individual who chooses one of these options should contact National directly for approval and additional information. Specific time frames may apply.
Volume Discount Membership: organizations with 50 or more supply management employees nationwide can save substantially on their membership dues. This category is available to organizations as well as governmental entities of every level and type. Please contact ISM National direct for more information.
